If time for that first birthday celebration is rolling around, you can look at your nearly one year old baby and be pleased. You’ve done it. You’ve made it through that first year, which is all about surprises, things the baby books never told you, and trying to keep up with the baby that never seems to want to sleep. If your baby is finally going to be a year old, then that’s reason to celebrate. So start getting out the cookbooks and the wrapping paper—a first birthday party needs to be planned.

Planning the Event

Some parents are just too tired by the time for first birthday celebrations rolls around, and if that’s you, don’t try to force a celebration.
