Anaphylaxis in children
Anaphylaxis is a reaction allergic swift and severe and one of the most challenging medical emergencies that a parent can face. It all starts when the immune system mistakenly responds to form a hazardous substance that is not like a serious threat, releasing histamine and other chemicals that cause a large number of symptoms, some of them can endanger life.
Symptoms that your child may have in such cases include inflammation of the skin, throat, face, lips and tongue, difficulty breathing normally, rapid pulse, or irregular heartbeat, hives, dizziness, fainting or loss of consciousness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, have extremely pale skin, sweating, red or blue in color and have confusion.
Symptoms usually appear in the first two hours after exposure to the substance, sometimes even minutes, although it is possible that the symptoms may appear up to four hours later. There are several agents that can cause these allergies among the most common are nuts, shellfish, fish, milk and eggs, but any kind of food can trigger an allergic reaction.
There are also drugs in the penicillin family, including the popular antibiotic amoxicillin, the stings and insect bites especially those of bumblebees, honey bees, wasps, ants, wasps, also known as common yellow jacket, and the latex is used in health facilities and preservatives and artificial colors in foods.
