Apert Syndrome

Apert syndrome is a craniofacial anomaly, which causes a defect in the skull, hands, feet, and increased intracranial pressure, cardio-respiratory problems, mental retardation, blindness, hearing loss, ear infections, among others.

Family may occur through inheritance or new mutation, the syndrome occurs in fewer children and is generated during the gestation period. The diagnosis can be given at birth, because there are special features on the face, sutures close and severe brachycephaly.
