Breast milk is an essential product for a newborn to the extent that this product contains vitamins and minerals (including iron) necessary for growth, and that until the age of one year. From there, feeding the baby should vary somewhat, since the physiological and nutritional needs of children are no longer satisfied merely by breast milk.
